Madison County’s Emily Seale and Sophie Adams were both named to the VHSL Class 2 all-state softball team, which was released on Tuesday.

Seale, a junior pitcher, was a first-team selection, while Adams, a junior outfielder, was named to the second team.

Seale helped the Mountaineers reach the Class 2 state championship game by tossing a three-hit shutout and hitting a two-run home run in a 2-0 victory over Lebanon in the state semifinals on Thursday.

The junior finished the season with a 15-1 record. In 115.1 innings pitched, Seale struck out 164 batters and limited opponents to a .166 batting average.

Adams was one of the top bats in the Madison lineup, finishing with two home runs, 25 RBI and 15 runs scored. She posted a .378 batting average and stole seven bases for the Mountaineers.

Richlands pitcher Mac Osbourne, who struck out 16 Madison batters in the state championship game on Friday and had more than 300 strikeouts this season, was named the player of the year, while Richlands coach Ronnie Davis was named coach of the year.
