The Eastern View golf team won its second match in a row on Monday, topping Battlefield District rival Chancellor 200-209 at Lee’s Hill Golf Club.
Cyclones’ freshman Nathan Amos won medalist honors with a 42 on the afternoon. Classmate Peter Scott finished tied for third with a 51, sophomore Robert Scott was fifth with a 52 and junior Kelly Hackley came in seventh with a 55.
Eastern View head coach Patrick Thornhill was pleased with his team’s performance on an afternoon where course conditions weren’t ideal.
“[Conditions] were tough,” he said. “The fairways were dry from all the heat we’ve had lately.”
Thornhill continues to be impressed by the performance of Amos.
“Nathan’s short game was sharp, so that helped him get up and down,” Thornhill said. “He started the day off slow, but stayed focused to take the top spot.”
Chancellor was paced by sophomore Kai Crockett, who shot a 48 to finish second overall. Junior Mason Sheetz tied Peter Scott for third with a 51, while classmate Nic Gregory’s 53 landed him in the sixth slot.
Eastern View (2-1) returns to the course on Monday, when it welcomes Spotsylvania to Culpeper Country Club for another district matchup. The action is set to begin at 4 p.m.
