Virginia and quarterback Bryce Perkins will open the 2019 season with three straight prime-time games.

The Virginia football team will open the 2019 season with three straight night games, and all three will be broadcast live on the new ACC Network.

The new network, which will launch on August 22, will air 14 live football games over the first three weeks of the season, showcasing 11 ACC teams, 10 home openers and five conference matchups.

As part of Wednesday’s announcement of many of the ACC’s early season kickoff times, the Cavaliers learned they’ll open the season with a 7:30 p.m. game on Aug. 31 at reigning Coastal Division champion Pittsburgh.

The following week, they’ll open their home schedule with a Friday game against in-state foe William & Mary, which will kick off at 8 p.m. Game three is another ACC showdown, with Florida State coming to Charlottesville for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. It was previously announced UVa’s game on Sept. 28 at Notre Dame will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on NBC.

Virginia is coming off an 8-5 season in head coach Bronco Mendenhall’s third year on Grounds, which ended with a 28-0 win over South Carolina in the Belk Bowl. Last fall marked UVa’s first consecutive seasons with bowl bids since 2004-05.
