I’m writing to ask for your support for my husband of 28 years, Paul W. Bates.

He’s a loving husband, a supportive and loving father to our children and a hard worker, who doesn’t shy away from challenges. I am excited to see him step up to take on this challenge. I know he will do an exceptional job.

We worked together for more than 24 years at Bates Body & Repair. During those years, I’ve seen Paul in all sorts of situations. One thing that stands out to me is that he has always tried to do the right thing. I feel honored to be his wife and business partner.

Paul has a gift of connecting, listening and effectively communicating with people from all backgrounds. Hundreds of times, I witnessed Paul put a customer at ease after arriving at our business stressed by the damage to their automobile. They trusted Paul to make things right and to do what he said he would do. Trust is very important, and something we should have in all our elected officials. You can trust Paul.

Paul is fair and does not rush to a decision. I’ve seen him do extensive research as a member of the Culpeper County Planning Commission. I’ve seen him talking with residents, visiting sites and contacting state offices for answers that others couldn’t provide. He does his homework. He won’t skimp on the hard work necessary for the Board of Supervisors.

His campaign is a grassroots effort with endorsements from the people of Culpeper, not politicians. Paul knows that in the end, it’s the people of Culpeper who he will represent—not outside interests.

This is a grassroots Culpeper campaign, not a political-party campaign, so I ask that your voice is heard on Nov. 5 by voting for Paul W. Bates for the Catalpa District seat on the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors.
