I’m writing this letter in support of Sheriff Scott Jenkins.

He came to work for me as a deputy in the jail more than 25 years ago. After I retired Dec. 31, 1995, he continued to work at the Sheriff’s Office, working up through the ranks to become sheriff of Culpeper County eight years ago.

I have watched Scott over the last eight years and as the department grew, he grew with it. He has a good team of men and women working for him. It’s a big responsibility.

I’m getting up in years now, and I want to thank the people for their support over the years. I’ve worked most of my life here in Culpeper—31 years and one month as sheriff, five and a half years as deputy sheriff, one year and 11 months with the town police, and two years in the U.S. Army.
