Mary Lee Vican, 96, of Bartonsville, died Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2019, while under hospice care in her home. She was the widow of Edward H. Vican with whom she shared 69 years of marriage at the time of his death on October 4, 2012. Born on April 8, 1923 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Morris Austin and Mary Ethel (Corbin) Somerville and lived in Bartonsville since 1954. She was secretary and records supervisor at East Stroudsburg University from 1960 until retiring in 1986. Mary Lee had a beautiful alto voice and loved to sing and play piano and organ. She instilled the joy of music in her children and enjoyed attending community musical events. Friends and family were paramount with her. She regularly attended local churches and was a member of the Red Hat Society and Pocono Mountain chapter of Embroiderer's Guild. Mary Lee was also a member of the former Jolly Janes of Bartonsville and Elsie Longacre Rebekah Lodge of Tannersville. Surviving are her son, Harry Alan Vican and wife Linda L. of Lower Windsor, York County; daughter in law, Joan K. Vican of Henryville; seven grandchildren, Stephen B. Vican and wife Christina of Cordova, AK, Sarah C. (Vican)Heiser and husband Timothy, Lindsay K. (Vican) McCarthy and husband Reid M.E. of Whitmore Lake, MI, Ryan J. Soll of Pasadena, MD, Justin E. Vican and wife Shawna of Kennett Square, Elizabeth A. (Vican) Faisant and husband Joseph of Pittsburgh, and Kaitlyn M. (Vican) Barrios and husband Lennis M. Jr. of Annapolis, MD; seventeen great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, The Honorable Ronald E. Vican (retired President Judge of Monroe County) on October 24, 2014; and a brother, Morris Emory Somerville. Services will be held on Saturday, June 22, from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg; with viewing beginning at noon followed by the funeral service at 1:00PM with Pastor David Berryman officiating. Private burial will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
