Joseph Gerald McClung, 82, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Autumn Care Nursing Home, Madison, Va. He was born March 1, 1937, to James Waldo and Delcie Vandall McClung in Greenbriar, W.Va. Survivors include his son, Joseph G. McClung Jr. (Sandra) of Orange, Va.; daughter, Debra Fleming (J.R.) of Texas; five grandchildren, Patrick, Jason, and Casey McClung, Ashley and Devon Brandenburg; brothers, Denzil McClung (Vickie) and Gary McClung (Jean), both of Culpeper, Va.; sisters-in-law, Joan McClung of Orange, Va. and Dorothy McClung of Barboursville, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by step-children, Donna Slavey, Diane Graves, Rocky Carter, and Debbie Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wesley, Henry, Robert, and Darrel McClung; the mother of his children, Mary Davis McClung; and beloved wife, Elgie Carter McClung; and special friend Marilyn Odell. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, Va. Online guestbook is available at johnsoncares.com.
