It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Adell Judd Dixon, our loving and devoted mother, nana, aunt and friend to all whose lives she touched, on May 15, 2019. She was in her 90th year. Born in Culpeper, Virginia to Walter and Marion Judd, she lived on Chicken Hill with her siblings, Edith, Gertrude, Olive and John, all of whom preceded her to Heaven. She attended JMU and worked as a telephone operator until meeting the love of her life, John Henry Dixon (while on the job). She married in 1949 and moved to Madison County to live and work on the "Tucker Dixon" family dairy/beef farm for the remainder of her life. Jean was also honored to assist constituents during her employment with U.S. Congressman French Slaughter. She was the beloved mother of Judith Lynn Dixon and her husband Matt Deemer, William Henry (Billy) Dixon (deceased) and Betty Jean Dixon and her husband, William Anderson. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she spoiled them rotten - Jean Marie Dixon, Will Dixon, Maggie Anderson and Emma Anderson. Christian and Hannah Dixon and Luke and Bella Dixon are her beloved great-grandchildren. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at the Madison Church of the Brethren at 3PM on Sunday, May 19th, 2019. Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall. Flowers, or donations to support dementia research through the Alzheimer's Association are welcome. Online condolences may be expressed through www.preddyfuneralhomes.com.
