Joan Eleanor (Edwards) Loeffler (92) of Culpeper, Virginia, born on May 16, 1927, went to be with our Lord Jesus on Monday, June 10, 2019. It will always be a special day in memory because she passed on the 75th anniversary of her marriage to Donald Loeffler, who preceded her in passing this past March 30th. A special bond in marriage, she rejoined her husband, thus never having to spend an anniversary parted by death. Joan was born to John and Mamie Edwards of Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she grew up and met the love of her life, "Don". On their 1st anniversary, she was just weeks from having delivered their first child, Don Loeffler, Jr., while her husband lay injured from a bullet wound to his abdomen in World War II, Germany. We can only imagine how she felt when the soldiers came to her home to inform her that her husband was severely wounded. God saw fit that Don came home, and together they raised their 5 children: Don Loeffler, Jr., Nancy Quigley, Jeff Loeffler, David Loeffler and Gary Loeffler. Joan Loeffler is known throughout her whole family as a wonderful homemaker, home decorator, who loved holidays and made each one special with her decorating, baking, and dinner parties full of fun and traditions. Always taking care of her family and children, which include 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and a new arrival of a great-great-granddaughter. A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, with a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper. Reverend John Swain will officiate the service. Online guestbook is available at johnsoncares.com.
