Virginia Lois Jenkins Hawkins, 94 of Culpeper, VA died Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at her residence. She was born on November 6, 1924 to the late Edgar and Bertha Jenkins. Virginia worked at the Orange Silk Mill for a brief time until she married her husband who was a small dairy farmer. She was a hard worker who worked beside her husband on the farm for many years. During harvest time she cooked many meals for the farm hands and enjoyed her homemaker duties as well as farming. She was also a good seamstress, making many school clothes for her daughter as well as alterations for several family members and friends. She also made crafts, like stuffed animals and dolls. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Hawkins Bryant Payne of Culpeper; one sister, Rachel Ada Jenkins of Manassas; her special niece and nephew, Rachel Ann Fleury and Jack Elmo Hawkins; and a host of other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Hawkins, Jr.; one sister, Margaret Judith Jenkins; one brother, Edgar George Jenkins, Jr.; and son-in-law, Varnell Creel Payne, Jr. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ron Young and Chaplain Jim Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. A special thank you to her caregiver, Victoria Yates from Visiting Angels as well as nurses and aids from Heartland Hospice who made the last year of her life more comfortable. Thanks also to her special friends who made her a part of their Wednesday night dinner group.
