A Tennessee man has been charged with DUI after nearly crashing into a Brandy Station business just after midnight on July 4.

William Fleming, 57, of Knoxville was traveling on Brandy Road when he failed to negotiate the sharp right hand curve onto Carrico Mills Road, according to the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office. The motorist then reportedly crashed into a concrete barrier in front of RJ Merkel, a pavement striping contractor.

Deputy Derek Mathis worked the incident and arrested Fleming for driving while intoxicated. The suspect was ordered held in the Culpeper Jail until sober. Culpeper Sheriff Scott Jenkins advised residents to not allow their friends to drink and drive.
