Barbara Carpenter Heltzel, 84, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on November 18, 2019 at The Culpeper senior living community. She was a faithful member of Culpeper Baptist Church serving in many capacities, including as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Flower Committee. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Culpeper, Virginia, having graduated from Culpeper County High School and attended Madison College and Mars Hill College. She was a devoted homemaker and loved caring and providing for her family. She also worked for the Virginia Department of Highways, and as an administrative assistant for Culpeper Memorial Hospital. Upon retirement, she opened an antique shop named the Mustard Seed in Madison, Virginia. Barbara was a talented pianist and organist, having played for many local churches and other venues and events. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she always treasured time spent with family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Roy Franklin Heltzel, and her parents John Kenneth and Margaret Fletcher Carpenter. She is survived by her son, Roy Franklin Heltzel Jr. and wife Ann Jessee Heltzel of Chesapeake, Virginia, and her daughter, Paige Heltzel Haynes of Manassas, Virginia. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Roy Franklin Heltzel III, Katherine Ann Heltzel, Ryan Perry Haynes, and Joseph Tyler Haynes. Surviving family includes her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Ellen Heltzel, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and close life-long friends. The family would like to recognize and thank all of the wonderful people at The Culpeper and Piedmont Hospice for the loving care they showed Barbara. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Madison Highway, Culpeper, Virginia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Christopher Matthew Fincham age 50 of Nags Head NC, formerly of Culpeper Va, passed away on November 6th in Chesapeake Va surrounded by loved ones. He was born May 19, 1969 to Jesse James Fincham and Pansy Geer Fincham. Chris is proceeded in death by his father Jesse James Fincham. He is survived by his mother Pansy Fincham of Culpeper, his son Justin Byars of Virgina Beach, two brothers Robert Fincham and his wife Terri, JB Fincham and his wife Sheri, both of Culpeper. Also two sisters, Faye Brown and her husband Dale and Victoria Hylton and her husband Donnie, both also of Culpeper. Chris is also survived by his companion Darrie Casey of Nags Head and many nieces and nephews and their children, a large family and many special friends whom he loved dearly. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday November 23rd located at Gourdvine Baptist Chuch in Rixeyville Va at 2pm. Evelyn Jones Raper, 89, of Lovettsville, VA and formerly of Unionville, VA passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019. She was the widow of Robert R. Raper. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with interment in the Culpeper National Cemetery. Sylvia Carol Jansen, 86, of Culpeper, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2019. Mrs. Jansen was born in Petersburg, NY, on July 10, 1933. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as, a faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church in Brandy Station. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Jansen; her parents, George Phillips, Florence O'Dell; and her stepfather, Henry O'Dell. She leaves behind her daughters; Lisa Smith of Culpeper, VA, Lynn Domer (Doug) of Bella Vista, AR, Lauri Fincham (Bruce) of Culpeper, VA; her grandchildren, Erin Pfleegor (Michael), Damon Domer (Christina), Kalah Domer, Amber Henderson (Nick), Foster Fincham, Evan Fincham, and Ben Fincham; and 10 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 12 p.m. at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Ridge Rd., Chesterfield, VA with Bruce Fincham officiating. The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, 19343 Carpenters Branch Rd., Brandy Station, VA.
