A local mom has been charged with murder in the death of her newborn daughter.
On March 17, members of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, as well as, fire rescue personnel, responded to an address in the Cambridge Subdivision for an unresponsive 3-month-old girl child, according to a news release Monday from the SCSO.
The child was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head, the release stated. Investigators determined that the child’s mother, 25-year-old Stephanie Hadeed, was the caretaker of the infant at the time of death.
Following a lengthy investigation a warrant for murder was obtained for Hadeed, who turned herself in on Saturday and is currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
