Fifth Saturday Musical Jam

Waddell Memorial Church in Rapidan will host its 5th Saturday Open Mic and Jam session this Saturday, Nov. 30.

Now in its ninth year, the event is a venue for amateur musicians and people who just like to listen to music. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a potluck dinner at which newcomers and old hands greet each other and catch up on happenings.

Then the music begins, everything from classical guitar, violin and piano, to songs written by the performers themselves. All types of music are welcome, with gospel, bluegrass, folk and old favorites most of the fare. Impromptu groups form, duets, quartets, and sing-alongs.

Audience members are encouraged to attend the free program designed to provide experience to beginning performers and build their confidence. A number of professionals also attend, encouraging these non-pros, and just having a good time.

Children’s Christmas Play

Amissville United Methodist presents its annual Children’s Christmas Play at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the church, 14760 Lee Highway in Amissville.

Antioch guest preachers for DecemberA series of guest preachers will share sermons in December at Antioch Baptist Church, 202 West St. in Culpeper.

The Rev. Daryl Potts will preach this Sunday, Dec. 1; on Dec. 8, the Rev. Wayne Robinson; Dec. 15, the Rev. Jesse Hawkins and on Dec. 22, the Rev. Deborah Carter.

Christmas Concert

The Blue Ridge Chorale will present a free Christmas concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 S. West. St.

Spiritual Care Support Ministries programs

Celebrate Christmas with Spiritual Care Support Ministries 3 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the center, 430 E. Shirley Ave in Warrenton.
