Former Delegate Winsome Sears guest speaker tonight at Madison GOP meeting

History-making former Virginia Del. Winsome Earle Sears will be the guest speaker at the meeting tonight, Nov. 19, starting at 6 p.m. of the Madison County Republican Women in the fellowship hall at Madison Presbyterian Church, 1238 Fishback Rd.

Winsome served as a Marine, is a former congressional candidate, the author of “Stop Being A Christian Wimp!” and a motivational speaker. The menu will feature favorite pasta dishes with great sides and desserts by club members. Dinner is $8 per person. Everyone is invited to attend this informative meeting. Culpeper NAACP Branch meeting this week

The Culpeper NAACP Branch #7508, also serving Madison and Rappahannock counties, will hold its monthly meeting 7 to 8:30 p.m. this Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Culpeper County Library. All are welcome to attend. For information, see NaacpCulpeper.org.

Human Services boards to meet Wednesday

The regular monthly meeting of the Culpeper County Human Services Board, Social Services Board and the Head Start Board will be held at 1 p.m. this Wednesday, Nov. 20 in the conference room at Culpeper Human Services,1835 Industry Drive.

The meeting is being held at a facility believed to be accessible to persons with disabilities. Any person with questions on the accessibility should contact Doris Clatterbuck, Secretary to DSS Board, at 540/727-0372 ext. 360. The public is invited to attend.

Girls on the Run Piedmont 5K

A 5K event like no other, the Girls on the Run Piedmont event will take place 1 to 4 p.m. this Sunday, Nov. 24 at Eastern View High School in Culpeper.

Celebrate local girls and the important work they have been doing this season learning valuable life skills like boundary setting, conflict resolution and healthy self-esteem. Let them know they matter by joining in the run, walk, cheer or volunteer.

The fun starts at 1 p.m. and the 5K at 2. All proceeds go to help girls in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison and Rappahannock know that they can run a mile, so they can run the world!
