Battlefield Tours at Cedar Mountain
Join Friends of Cedar Mountain Battlefield for a guided walking tour of the battlefield in Culpeper County on the third Saturday of each month in June, July, September and October.
The first tour will be held at 10 a.m. this Saturday with parking at the Friends of Cedar Mountain Meeting House, 9465 General Winder Rd. in Rapidan, off of U.S. 15 south of Culpeper. A $10 donation is requested.
The summer and fall tours are open to all ages to learn about the August 9, 1862 encounter in which Confederate troops led by General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson prevailed over Federal troops led by General Nathaniel Banks at a cost of 3,800 men killed or wounded. The Gypsy Food Truck Festival & Flea Market
Vendors will come from near and far to offer an enjoyable shopping and food truck experience 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday at Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises, 10220 James Monroe Highway.

The Gypsy Tent Revival will be held at 7 p.m. on the grounds of Culpeper Ag Enterprises following the Gypsy Flea & Food Truck Festival. There will be words from preachers, music by local singers and musicians, and open testimony from any who come.
Brandy Edwards, co-owner with her sister Tabatha Haines of Jane of All Trades, explains that this event is meant to be one where you can come as you are and be fed both physically and spiritually.
Grow Your Own Vegetable Garden Series concludes
The local office of Virginia Cooperative Extension will conclude its garden series with a final class on trellising/staking and moisture management at 5 p.m. this Friday at The Carver Center, 9433 James Madison Highway in Culpeper County. Local Commemoration of 400th Anniversary of Africans in America
Sky Meadow State Park will host a history event 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday in commemoration of local ties to the 400th Anniversary of Africans in America.
From separation of families during slavery in the mid-1800s, to children without local schools in the mid-1900s, Sky Meadows’ history is rich in stories of African Americans’ experiences in the Crooked Run Valley, according to a news release. Join staff and volunteers for special tours of the park’s Historic Area to see, hear, taste, and touch these stories. Tours begin every half hour at the front porch of Mount Bleak House.

MAD Cats yard sale benefit
A large fundraising yard sale will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday at 13737 Inlet Rd. in Culpeper to benefit Madison Community Cats, also known as MAD Cats. The nonprofit, all volunteer run organization provides low cost spay & neuter services for cats in Culpeper and Madison counties.
This weekend’s yard sale will have many items for sale, including cookies, to support the group and its efforts to prevent unwanted and overpopulation of the cat population. Donations will be accepted and information provided about MAD Cats. For information, contact Patmadcats4@gmail.com.

Memories of Elvis, featuring Steward Chapman, will be performed at 2 p.m. this Saturday at the American Legion Hall, 341 Newton St. in the town of Orange.
Tickets are $15 in advance on EventBrite or $20 at the door with proceeds to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Doors will open at 1:30 for general admission seating.

Culpeper Minutemen Chapter Meeting
The Culpeper Minutemen Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will hold its chapter meeting at 11 a.m. this Saturday at Luigi’s Italian Restaurant in Southgate Shopping Center in the town of Culpeper. Lunch will be ala carte.
The special guest speaker will be Sally Humphries, author of “Unsung Heroes of the American Revolution.” New members will be inducted and there will be discussion of summer activities.
At 2 p.m., the group will gather at the Culpeper Minutemen marker, on the back side of Yowell Meadow Park, for a ceremony honoring the original Culpeper Minutemen.
