Picnic

All located in the historic village of Rapidan, the churches of Mt. Calvary, Hopewell, Cedar Grove, Waddell, Lower Rapidan Baptist and Emmanuel Episcopal gathered together for a picnic Oct. 6 near the banks of the river.

Historic churches of Rapidan gather together

Six historic Rapidan churches gathered together on Oct. 6, a cloudy Saturday, near the banks of the river at Emmanuel Episcopal Church for an early fall picnic.

The churches of Mt. Calvary, Hopewell, Cedar Grove, Waddell, Lower Rapidan Baptist and Emmanuel Episcopal had originally planned a mid-Summer Picnic that was postponed because of the heavy rain and flooding early in early summer.

A great time of fellowship was enjoyed during the rescheduled afternoon event and many attendees expressed the hope that the picnic would become an annual occurrence. Having eaten well, the gathering joined together in song. Appropriately enough one of them being “Let’s go down to the river and pray.”
