Two children were among the three killed in a vehicle crash Sunday in Spotsylvania County Sunday afternoon.
Virginia State Police on Monday identified Ana D. Pascual, 32, of Woodbridge as one of the three passengers of a 2002 Honda Accord who died at the scene of the wreck that occurred at 2:55 p.m. on July 7 in the 6200 block of Courthouse Road. A 12-year-old girl and a 10-month old baby boy, both of Woodbridge, also died at the scene, according to State Police spokesman Sgt. Brent Coffey.
The driver of the Honda, Denia A. Brizuela-Pascual, 22, of Woodbridge, was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The fourth passenger, a juvenile female, was flown to VCU Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The adults and juveniles were all wearing seat belts and the infant was properly secured in a child safety restraint, according to State Police.
Reported circumstances of the crash had the Honda Accord traveling west on Courthouse Road when it ran off of the right shoulder. The driver over-corrected, which caused the Honda to cross the center-line, and collide with an eastbound 2012 Acura MDX, according to State Police.
The driver of the Acura, a 58-year-old male from Fairfax, and a passenger, a 55-year-old female from Fairfax, were transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Trooper D. Jablonski is investigating the crash with assistance from the Virginia State Police Culpeper Division’s Crash Reconstruction Team. The Spotsylvania County Fire and EMS, Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and VDOT assisted at the scene.
