April 23: “The Monuments Men: Saving Art and Restoring History”

Windmore and The Museum of Culpeper History partner to present this free gallery talk about artist Dorothy Skelton and presented by speaker Fran Cecere. The event takes place on Sunday, April 23 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the museum located at 113 S. Commerce Street. Seating is limited; call 540-829-1749 for reservations. Refreshments will be served. Culpeper artist Dorothy Skelton (1914—1999) was one of the founders of Windmore. In 1948—1949 she was a civilian member of the Monuments, Museums, and Fine Arts (MMFA) project, also known as the Monuments Men, that returned millions of pieces of art that had been confiscated during World War II.

April 29: Peter Pan Musical Volunteer Day For Preparation of Sets, Props, and Costumes

Saturday April 29 from 10 am to 3 pm will be a “Let’s Volunteer Day” in order to prepare for the Windmore Peter Pan Musical and Summer Camp that will be taking place in June at Verdun Adventure Bound. Volunteers are needed to move set pieces, organize props, sort costumes, etc. Sign up in advance is required. For more information: call 540/547-4333.

April 29: Windmore StageWorks presents Salt and Pepper

Written by physicist and playwright Robert Benjamin, Salt and Pepper is a play about aging with grace, courage and humor. Directed by local Johncie Flannagan Carlson, the show will take place on Saturday, April 29 at 6:45 pm (doors open at 6 pm) at Narmada Winery located at 43 Narmada Lane, Amissville, VA. Tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased online at www.windmorefoundation.org. Space is limited so reserve early. Wine and refreshments will be available for purchase. April 30: Crossroads Youth Orchestra Spring Concert

The concert, “A Night Out at the Movies—Pop and Movie Music from Blockbusters to Classics!” is upbeat with popular music to be enjoyed by all ages. There will also be a special piece of music as a tribute to Robert M. Buettgens, a dedicated supporter of Crossroads Youth Orchestra who passed away in January. The tribute piece will be introduced by one of Mr. Buettgens’ Native American Flute Circle students playing the flute. Open to the public, the music concert will take place at 4:30 pm at Culpeper Baptist Church located at 318 S West Street, Culpeper. The concert will be conducted by Samuel Runolfson and assisted by Strings Teacher Dawnn Fletcher. Tickets ($10 adults, $5 ages 12 and under) are on sale now online: www.windmorefoundation.org and will also be available at the door.

Peter Pan Camp—Registration Open

Windmore’s Peter Pan Musical Theater Camp is from June 1 – June 17 for ages 7 to 17 at Verdun in Rixeyville, VA. The camp will take place over 12 weekdays from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and culminate in two performances of the musical Peter Pan on June 17.
