Red Devils assistant coach Chris Wortman has had more on his plate this year, with manager Jim Rutkowski living in Pennsylvania during the week.
"Chris has been a valuable asset given my distance away from Culpeper this season," Rutkowski said.
The Red Devil has been leading practice during the week.
"He's been the glue to hold this team together this season," Rutkowski said. "He really is my right hand man and, if the team chooses him, could be the next manager. He's got an excellent baseball mind despite his young age."
Gridiron gang: Third baseman Jonathan Mills and second baseman Daniel Timpe played football during their collegiate years.
Mills was a defensive end for four years at Bridgewater College, while Timpe was a wide receiver at Concord University, in addition to playing baseball.
Switching colors: Thirteen players on the Red Devils' roster are graduates of Culpeper County High School, while one, Joey Powell, is still at the school.
Four former Blue Devils are from the class of 2001, three from 2003 and two from each of the 1999 and 2005 classes.
Mountaineer country: Three of the Red Devil infielders are alumni of West Virginia University.
Jason Rutkowski, the Culpeper second baseman/designated hitter, graduated from the school in Morgantown in 2004, shortstop David Gough graduated in 2005 and first baseman/catcher Brent Rutkowski graduated in 2006.
