Orange American Legion Post 156 ended its season on a high note Monday night, sailing to an 18-4 win over Massaponax.
The team, which includes several Culpeper County High School players, finished with a 14-8 record, team spokesman Brian Funk said in an e-mail to the Star-Exponent.
Funk noted a few outstanding achievements from players this season, including Jeremy Brown’s .479 batting average. Brown contributed 35 hits, including nine doubles and three homeruns, and drove in 34 runs.
Trevor Funk and Hunter Kenney also batted over .400, Funk said.
On the mound, Cody Whitlock was 2-1 with 36 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. Brown fanned 34.
In addition, Robbie Whitmer played solid defense, Funk said.
Orange will host Spotsylvania Post 320 on Thursday in the opening round of the district tournament.
