Orange rebounded from last week’s tough loss to Chancellor with an easy 49-7 victory at Spotsylvania Friday night.
As usual, quarterback Quintin Hunter was outstanding for the Hornets, accumulating four touchdowns. Hunter completed 10 of 12 passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns with an interception. He also rushed six times for 93 yards and a score.
Orange (2-1) jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on the Knights then continued to pour it on in the first half with 21 more unanswered points before halftime. Spotsylvania finally was able to get in the end zone in the third quarter, but two more Hornets touchdowns in the second half left the Knights reeling.
Orange’s Darryus Gilliam also provided some highlights for the Hornets, rushing twice for 102 yards, including a 95-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Gilliam also had an 86-yard pass reception for a touchdown.
Amir Waller also had a big game for Orange, making six catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns and also throwing the touchdown pass to Gilliam.
