EVHS tops Mason; Culpeper falls to Vikings

After a slow start, Eastern View rolled to a 47-28 victory over George Mason. Stevie Strother racked up 287 yards on the ground to spark the Cyclones to a homecoming win.
Second-half touchdown runs of 39 and 65 yards by Stevie Strother helped EVHS build a 41-14 lead in the third quarter before George Mason added a touchdown late in the period.
Stevie Strother rushed five yard for his second touchdown with 1:32 left in the first quarter to help Eastern View to a 14-7 lead over visiting George Mason after one quarter at Cyclone Stadium and Cody Whitlock threw for a TD and rushed for another in the second quarter to help the Cyclones increase their lead to 20 points.
George Mason drove 51-yards on its opening possession and took a 7-0 lead after running back John Mann scored from nine yards out with 7:10 left in the first quarter. Eastern View answered with a 21-yard touchdown run from Strother three minutes later to tie the game 7-7.
AT CCHS: Loudoun Valley used a strong second half to beat Culpeper 27-7.
Culpeper was tied with Loudoun Valley at the half. The Blue Devils’ Steve Dodson scored on a one-yard touchdowon run set up by a 68-yard interception return by Nolan Jenkins, who also blocked a field goal in the second quarter.
