Last Friday was an exciting day at the Culpeper County Library.
Consul General Taemyon Kwon of the Republic of Korea made a trip to Culpeper from the Washington, D.C. embassy.
He, along with members of the news media from Korea and Culpeper, met to acknowledge the existence of a spot named Korea in Culpeper county.
Local historian Zann Miner, with assistance from reference librarian Julie Bushong, provided information regarding the naming of this spot. They left the library on a trek to experience the remains of Korea and Korea Road in Culpeper County.
Library director Susan Keller and I were privileged to be invited to lunch by the consul general. It was an informative meeting all the way around! He suggestd the possibility of having a Korean cultural event here. Before he left he also met with some of our county officials.
The library staff felt honored to have Consul General Taemyon Kwon visit. This is also a reminder of just how important our library is to our community!
