There are some answers the taxpayers of Culpeper County deserve to know about the county’s water and sewer proposed project.
1) Why is the Board of Supervisors so determined to build a duplicate water and sewer system that we already have in operation and capacity to serve the area?
2) What is the real cost going to be, and what is the capacity?
3) How many tap fees will the builder have to sell to recover the cost?
4) Will the capacity be capable of taking care of all the tap fees?
5) How much bond will the construction company have to post to guarantee the completion of the project?
6) Where is the money coming from to build new schools and cover other government cost to take care of the new growth?
7) What backup plan does the Board of Supervisors have in case the company goes belly up before the project is completed?

One more question: Why is it Culpeper County’s duty to bail out Angler during a recession-driven lull in commercial projects and home building?
Angler’s not looking out for the county—Angler is merely looking out for Angler.
(Hence the secrecy…shhhhh.)

Only those questions can be answered in closed session, which the public is prohibited from attending. Good idea to answer those questions, but if the BOS gave you an honest answer, the project wouldn’t even make the agenda. This Angler project has nothing to do with providing water and sewer service at an affordable price, it is about BOS ego and control. The housing sprawl this will cause will make Redwood Lakes and Lakeview in town look like mini-developments. And finally, who is going to live in all those houses. With gas approaching $4 a gallon and higher, who can live here and commute to Northen Virginia. This proposal is nonsense and should be killed, like consolidation. Watch Nixon, Walker, Chase and Aylor because they want the Angler deal bad. Ask them why and see if you get an honest answer.

Who let the builders put those houses next to Lowes, hook them to City water and then not tell the buyers that they would be paying water bills that were twice what town residents paid?
