I do not agree with the salary for the superintendent in Culpeper County because they have less of a responsibility than other schools in our surrounding area.
Fauquier County has 20 schools, so the superintendent for that county should make more.
Culpeper only has 10 schools and Orange has eight.
There should be a wage difference based on the level of responsbility that the superintendent has for that specific county.
Why should a superintendent in Culpeper, who has 10 schools to oversee, make more money than the superintendent in Fauquier?

Please take a moment and visit my website, saveourculpeperschools.org, to see just how out of control this school board has become. They waste money that could be directed to staff and educator pay raises while they continue to go on retreats to Williamsburg. This is our money that is being squandered. Please be sure to attend the Monday, December 8, 2008 open sesssion at the County Admin Bldg. at 302 Main street, and use your three minutes to let them know how you feel.

I agree, give it to the teachers. You want to attract highly qualified teachers who will actually stay and make Culpeper home? Then start paying them as the professionals they are rather than holding salaries, heaping on increasing amounts of responsibility and treating them like slaves!

Jean,
I agree that they do not need a salary as high as they are proposing. With only 10 schools they should be making 20-30 percent less than schools in Fauquier. The school board just wants to try to get more money from the state and attract higher quality talent. This is a mistake as this extra money could be given to the teachers who deserve it more.
