School budget was carefully thought through

I have attended many Board of Supervisors meetings and School Board meetings, as well as School Board work sessions, in the past several months.
The “Issue of the Week” brings all my discontent with the Board of Supervisors again to the surface.
Our elected School Board has worked diligently over the past months, with the school administration, to get to a bare bones budget request.
The amount requested is not some number pulled out of a hat, and our School Board has determined that this is the minimum they need to not only open two new schools, but also to continue to strive to meet the educational needs of this community.
The fact that the School Board will again have to make difficult decisions that affect my children’s education is hard to swallow.
The Board of Supervisors is ultimately responsible for providing the funding to the schools.
If any of the undesirable drastic steps mentioned in the “Issue of the Week” are taken by the School Board, I urge everyone in this community to ultimately hold the Board of Supervisors responsible.
Be sure to find out how your supervisor voted Tuesday, and if he or she didn’t support the entire school budget as presented, remember you control their ability to sit in that supervisor’s seat next term.

Ms. Bayne,
I think responsible dialogue is how we are going to help this as citizens. You have much more experience by attending meetings and work sessions, so I hope you can help me in my thinking that the road we have put our school system on is one that will have future ramifications much worse than just in the next few years. Would you explain to me some of the thought processes the board went through to reach today? Why two schools? Why teachers salaries? Why bus drivers salaries? Why bare bones when it comes to children and not full scale? I am asking because I want to know more. I have had a few years experience in the system and have the view that all are to share the blame. Help me to see your support of the board and administration and I will join the right side. We don’t have to do it here, I have a work website, I know how things can get blown out of porportion in comments and that is not my intention. I use my full name as I have nothing to hide or no nasty comments to make.
