Regarding the use of a flood plain
As a 17-year-old kid I joined the Navy and was sent to the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinowa. I was proud to have served my country and I was lucky to be able to return home. Many didn’t and it is a shame that it has taken this long to realize just what they sacrificed.
How about letting the kids play in the mud on Wine Street and give the veterans a respectful spot they deserve on higher ground, such as the courthouse lawn?
