Just having relocated to the Culpeper area from Pennsylvania a little over a year ago, my husband and I aren’t aware of much of the history of the area.

Walking our dog in and around the Spilman Park area almost daily we often have others ask us where Spilman Park got its name and they have questions about the history of the fireplace stack that is fenced in at the park.  Obviously, we have no idea.

Well, now we do and so will others.

The new historical plaque just placed at the park is professionally done and a great resource about the history of the founders in this area.

We just want to say what a welcome addition it is to the area and recommend a visit to anyone in the area with an interest in the early settlers here.

Please take this opportunity to view this plaque and appreciate its presence in our area.
