Obama’s answer for our woes: a bigger government

A response to Martha Williamson’s letter Sept. 7 (“Here’s what I don’t like about Palin”):

One cannot discuss taxation without understanding how it is related to other parts of our economy. More promised federal entitlement programs will eat up any extra revenues obtained by Sen. Barack Obama’s taxing of the rich and lowering the lower- and middle-class taxes.

Entitlement programs only increase dependency of the recipients and decrease any productivity that might be obtained if most of these programs were not available.

Taxing businesses and corporations — including the windfall profit taxes on oil companies — will only increase the cost of goods to the consumer and reduce, if not decrease, any economic gains by more job losses and reduction of the gross domestic product.

Overall, Obama’s plan does not define these increased costs of living and loss of productivity of America as a tax. But be sure to know that these will happen — and may well cost Americans much more than the taxes they see on their paychecks and federal tax returns.

In regard to the McCain/Palin ticket and “government controlling everything,” Ms. Williamson only refers to abortion, an issue considered by many as minor to the other important issues of our nation such as national security.

Obama’s plan includes much, much more overall governmental involvement in our lives.

Isn’t it ironic that the Obama fans say he will fix the economy and the the problems with the mortgage companys, yet he is the number two donation receiver, behind Sen Chris Dodd, from the now defunct Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. HUMMM…..

scandalwood-  Those aren’t predictions.  That is simply fear talk designed to appeal to voters who won’t bother to find out the real positions of the candidates.

Maybe you better copy these predictions that are circling the internet about if King Obama gets elected ...
1). Strict gun laws, though he promised he would not.
2). “In God We Trust” will be removed from all currency.
3). He will renege on his pledge to Israel and leave them to the wolves of Islam.
4). Hillary Clinton will be named to the Supreme Court.
5). Tax rates will surge to the highest levels in 30 years.
6). Capital gains tax will be at least double current levels.
7). Retired Army General Wesley Clark will be named Secretary of Defense.
8). Your borders will be open to all comers - especially from the Middle East and South America .
9). Amnesty will be granted to all illegals in the U.S, regardless of status or even gang membership (think MS-13).
10). Our presence in Iraq will come to an abrupt end - with tragic results to their citizens and devastating consequences to our military.

Obama plans to institute a higher tax on corporations and small businesses making over $250,000 per year. If people don’t think that will cause lay offs, price increases, etc….than they are blind. Since when is $250,000 per year revenue alot of money….I can’t understand why some continue to say he only plans to increase taxes on the rich. Lord help us if he is elected…..

The way I understand it, the total mess that our financial institutions have become can be traced back to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This bail out makes the S&L;bailout look like joke. This bailout is going to cost hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars. The type of governmental involvement that I’d like to see is the appointment of a Special Prosecutor. The government needs to get to the bottom of this and let the chips fall where they may.

Much, much more involvement? The only one I see you mention is higher taxes for corps. such as oil companies.  Money that I expect will be used to promote alt. energy.  That’s the kind of involvement in our lives I’d like to see.  Got anything else?
