I am a senior at Culpeper County High School, and last Monday U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor came to our school to talk to the senior class.
I enjoyed his visit and appreciated him taking time out of his schedule to come and talk to us. I am very disappointed in the students and the administration at Culpeper. The students were rude, disrespectful and obnoxious. Some students were sleeping, reading and being extremely loud during his speech.
What shocked and appalled me the most was that none of the administrators and teachers seemed to care about how the students were acting. I saw only one teacher telling the seniors to be quiet.
When the bell rang for lunch, some of the seniors even went to leave while he was answering questions from the student panel; only one teacher told them to sit back down.
The administration should have taken control of the problem; they should have sent kids out if they had to.
Some students couldn't even hear what Mr. Cantor was saying because the other students were being so loud. If I were an administrator at CCHS, I would be embarrassed about how the seniors behaved. As a student, I am embarrassed and ashamed of my school for its lack of discipline. I think that our principal and superintendent owe Mr. Cantor an apology.
