I am appalled at the lack of respect and support Steve Jenkins receives from his fellow Town Council members, including the mayor.

Jenkins’ efforts to address some of the difficulties facing Culpeper, most notably the illegal immigrant situation and recently the zoning ordinance problems, should be commended, not ridiculed.

I, for one, wish there were more concerned citizens working to clean up Culpeper, rather than the stonewalling of one who simply wants to make this a better community.

Kudos Mr. Jenkins. Please don’t become discouraged and give up.

The lack of respect is due in part because Mr. Jenkins doesn’t respect anyone. It’s his way or the highway. He is not a team player, although he claims he tries. He is a laughingstock. Anybody who knows Mr, Jenkins well, knows he likes to imtimidate and bully. They also know about the shenanigans in his private life and his inability to hold a job for long including his many failed attempts to stay employed in law enforcement. You obviously don’t know him well, but some of us due.You have to earn respect, being an elected official does not mean you demand it. Finally, I agree that zoning is a local issue but it is more complicated than black and white. Immigration, on theother hand is a federal issue, and not something a locality should be wasting money on erecting signs and moving people around like chess pieces just to appease an enormous ego.
