In response to the Feb. 29 letter in the Star-Exponent from Worth Richardson titled "Mucci was a welcome sight in Culpeper," boy that was some backhanded compliment to Ms. Mucci.
You don't agree with anything she said, but you're just happy none of the HPC members are physically attacking the Hispanics in town.
You say making employers obey the law will ruin the economy. Well, with all the illegals doing all the jobs Americans won't do like landscaping, construction, farmwork, etc., I don't see the prices falling for these services. The employers are just pocketing the savings and charging the same amount.
The American workers are just getting underbid by the illegals who can afford to work for less because they live 20 to a house and share the rent.
We don't like to live like they do in Third World countries. We like to have our own homes and not destroy our neighborhoods.
We don't want the "immigration process quicker or more accessible." It is fine the way it is now.
We want people from other nations to respect our laws and not flood our country and destroy our culture.
We like the American way not the corrupt Third World way. They need to stay and fix their own system not overwhelm ours. We have enough problems of our own without adding to them.
And you say leave the anchor babies out of it. That is difficult to do when thousands of pregnant Mexican women come over the border just to give birth to a baby that will instantly become a citizen and be eligible for many social programs, not to mention make deporting the mother much more complicated.
These anchor babies should never be allowed to become citizens to begin with. The 14th Amendment is being misused. It was never intended to be twisted around for this purpose; it was for recently freed slaves in 1868, not 2008 illegals.
You don't welcome Ms. Mucci coming to Culpeper but you do welcome all the illegals coming here, so why not just be honest and admit it-
By the way, you can pay for the cost of the children because I'm tapped out and so is the nation, in case you haven't noticed.
