Recently there's been some hooplah about what Jerry Beckett wears on his head (Star-Exponent.com, keyword: beret).
I'm not concerned as much about what's on his head as I am about what's in his head.
What this man has in his head is the initiative to curtail the illegal alien problem in the town of Culpeper. If he can make progress with this problem, I don't care if he wears a five-gallon bucket on his head!
There was also a recent column in the Star-Exponent by Mayor Pranas Rimeikis degrading the comments of Jerry Beckett, a Town Council candidate ("Beckett wrong on a number of issues," Feb. 23).
These comments were nothing more than a display of the mayor's biased attitude against anyone attempting to curtail the illegal alien problem.
Even though the term "illegal alien" wasn't mentioned in the mayor's column, you can read between the lines.
