HPC group is eliminating many with its criteria

I had to laugh when I read the criteria for becoming a "Help Protect Culpeper" member.

According to the article "HPC candidates fired up" on Feb. 3, to become a member one must certify that they: 1) are a U.S. citizen or legal resident; 2) will not employ illegal aliens; 3) will not knowingly do business with entities the employ illegal aliens; 4) will not contribute to conditions which may encourage the presence of illegal aliens in the community; and 5) will endeavor to participate in the illegal immigration debate.

And these people want to represent Culpeper as Town Council members- So who are they pandering to for support- Not only have they just eliminated the legal Hispanic community - as well as any small business owner utilizing illegal immigrants - but by their criteria, they've also excluded anyone in the educational system who teaches those children from illegal immigrants, anyone in the health care community who treats illegals in the hospital or health clinics, attorneys who represent them and store and restaurant owners who sell illegal aliens food, clothing or other items.

So who is  left to support this group at the polls come May-

They don't want to be compared with the racist groups of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, yet they set criteria which puts them in the same "elitist" category. They only want to be surrounded by those people who think and act like they do.

Maybe that's why they didn't call me back to tell me of the date change to their last HPC meeting.
