In Anita Hartke’s recent column in the Star-Exponent (“Cantor should be fired,” Oct. 11) she predicts a “huge Democratic landslide victory” and then just two paragraphs later says, “If I lose this election, it will be because the voters have been bought.”
I didn’t even know I was for sale.
Could it be that Ms. Hartke will lose because she is out of step with mainstream Virginia values?
Could it be because she favors massive tax increases and hundreds of billions in new spending?
Could it be that political candidates who insult the voters by saying they are for sale usually lose?
Personally, I don’t have any patience for Ms. Hartke’s brand of attack politics.
She won’t get my vote in November.

Will McCain’s attack politics get you his vote? I don’t care what Hartke says. I will never vote for Cantor again.

I’ll agree with you that saying that the “voters” have been bought was not a good choice of words for Ms. Hartke. But I think Mr. Cantor’s ENORMOUS war chest is way beyond what a well entrenched congressman needs to run against a first time candidate. The last I checked it was Cantor with $3mil. to Hartke’s $40K. Is’t there something wrong there. Esp. when so much of the money comes from places like Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Aspen. Yea, he’s a regular guy.
