There are three good reasons to vote for the Culpeper County meals tax:
1. If you buy meals at restaurants in Culpeper, Warrenton, Front Royal, Orange, Manassas, Fredericksburg or Charlottesville you already pay a meals tax and are helping to support their government services. Culpeper County does not receive the same help from visitors.
2. If you would like anyone that visits Culpeper County to be able to help pay for government services, then you should vote for the meals tax.
3. Numerous Virginia cities, towns and counties already now have, or are considering, a meals tax. Loudoun and Fauquier counties will have a meals tax on their ballots, too.

We should pass the meals tax. There are many more people visiting Culpeper than ever before and they can help pay the bills. What is insulting is that some of you actually think that if the taxes don’t come in one way then they won’t come in another.

Jayz, for your personal attack on campino, I hope the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits.
I’m tired of seeing this myself. We always hear the same old points justifying it. You’re already paying it somewhere else, others people should help us pay, and others are thinking about doing it. Well big deal! I don’t live there and if someone has or is thinking about sticking their head in a toilet, doesn’t mean we should.
With respect to the others should help us pay point, the thing that is never given is how much revenue comes from the outside. I heard the town gets ~2mill from the tax. How much comes from Non-town/non-county visitors? I would bet less than 10%. Which means the town is fleecing the population for roughly an additional 1.9mill to fund what? Those magic services we can’t live without. I sure would like to know what those are.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, NOT INTERESTED.

campino if the meals tax fails I hope your real estate tax is raised so high that you will never be able to eat out.

it’s insulting that this tax is once again on the ballot. how many times do we the taxpayers have to say “no.“
with fewer families and individuals going out to eat due to the economy, we don’t need any more reasons to not patronize Culpeper’s dining establishments.
If this passes, you can bet that we will most definitely be decreasing our dining out that much more.
