I was very, very dissappointed in the trick-or-treating this year at the Depot. My children were very upset, and I know a lot of other parents were disappointed also.
We stood in line for 45 minutes for one small bag of candy and one piece of candy and apple cider that had no taste. That was more of an insult than anything.
I sure hope someone encourages the businesses to open their doors next year. They were worried about the traffic downtown — well, the streets were closed anyway. It was a very bad idea to have it at the Depot. Actually, that was no Halloween.

I’ve got to agree with the writer, I thought it was pretty awful. I’m not ungrateful, I assumed that in these tough times it was maybe all downtown could do. The event has been so nice in years past, and I’ve been going since they started it, that I think it would have been better to cancel it altogether rather than disappoint.

What an ungrateful attitude! I thought that festivities were very nice. What about all the volunteers who gave of their time, and of the businesses that donated funds and candy to make that event possible. It was a very busy night for both police and sheriff’s department. Not only did they have halloween to tend to, with it’s pranksters and massive traffic problems, there were also two home football games that needed attention. The coordinators of the halloween event were faced with having to ensure the safety of those attending the festivities with limited law enforcement. So this year they decided to centralize things. Boo hoo. I, for one, am grateful for the event. There are a lot of great people that make these events possible. Why not take the time to thank them for all their hard work, instead of complaining that you didn’t get enough candy.

Complain to CRI, it was their idea from what I read.
