The county needs to build an EMS facility. The EMS staff needs a place to shower and clean up after calls and the equipment needs to be inside when not in use. Leaving the equipment outside will lead to earlier re-placement.
The EMS staff needs a place to cook meals or the county should supply meals for them, as they are working a 24-hour shift and they sure do not make enough money to eat out all the time.
What would OHSA think about the lack of showers and a washer/dryer to decontaminate equipment and personnel after calls-
The EMTs also need a place to sleep, eat and train instead of using just a small space at EOC. I understand we as a county are short of money, but this is going to cost us more in the long run.
I believe we pay a fire tax at tax time. Where is this money going- After two calls to my home, my insurance company paid more than $1,000 to Culpeper County.
The school system is not the only one needing money. These EMS people do a great job and need to be treated better, as do all of our fire and rescue people.
