Cigarette smoking is bad for business

Go to any convenience store or grocery, and you can hardly get in the door without passing cigarette smokers. Someone who does not smoke can’t get away from the chemicals from cigarettes; we have to inhale all this smoke like we’re smoking ourselves.
Virginia’s laws need to reach further to protect non-smokers. You can hardly find a restaurant locally that is smoke-free.
There’s a non-smoking side and a smoking side, like the owners think they have an invisible force field that keeps the smoke on one side.
Everyone should be able to go into stores without people always smoking next to the entrances and exits. Those business owners should realize that such behavior makes people not want to shop there.

The reason I enjoy going out to dinner when I vacation in Delaware and New England is because smoking is banned in public restaurants. Traveling with someone who is severely allergic to cigarette smoke I can see how much more enjoyable a meal can be when the smoke is not lingering about. Is the tobacco lobby so strong in this state that no one will stand up to it and ban smoking?

Store/restaurant owners need to know how you and others feel. If cig smoke is keeping you away, politely let them know. IF they never hear from anyone who is bothered by the smoke they won’t change anything.
