Many citizens took time from their busy schedules to attend the Board of Supervisors 7 p.m. meeting March 4. At 7:35 p.m., with several people waiting to speak, Chairman Bill Chase abruptly cut off the forum.
This was unacceptable. The public deserves to be heard, even if the BOS considers it to be repetitive or time-consuming. It is our right to address our elected officials at these monthly meetings.
I want the board to know that we parents, students and teachers are fighting for the future of this community. We are asking that the BOS fully fund the proposed school budget.
Please do whatever it takes to ensure that our children continue to have an excellent education in Culpeper. Next month, I want to say that for the record - even if it is after 7:30.
