Ban on handguns could also affect law enforcement

It really concerns me how many people are ready to make rules that affect everyone else without considering the full effect of their prohibitions.

If we’re going to seriously consider banning handguns from the general population, the police should be included in the list. If people feel un-safe believing their neighbors have loaded handguns on their bedstands in the privacy of their own homes, they should feel even more threatened by men and women roaming the town and county with guns strapped to their hips.

If the possession of guns is wrong, it’s wrong for everyone.

Would it make you feel safer knowing the police must maintain civil order without weapons?

No one ever talks about taking guns away from law enforcement, and yet that is the logical extension of a ban on handguns.

What in the world is Nancy talking about? What does taking firearms away from the Police have to do with citizens legally carrying a gun. I guess next she will want to take away fire trucks from the firemen. GEEZZZZ…

If you ever saw some of the cops shoot you would be even more concerned.

When did this town council proposal on shooting in town ever morph into a ban on possession of all guns?  Good grief.

Ma’am, I’m afraid I see quite a stretch with your idea. Private citizens, exercising their constitutional right, bearing a weapon will be debated, discussed and argued from now til doomsday. A duly sworn, law enforcement officer, whose job it is to uphold the law - either by showing up and standing by, or using his or her weapon (on a rare occassion) is another matter. Unless you know if a rash of police who have misused their sidearms, or some other scandal involving law officers and guns, this is comparing apples and oranges.
