I read James Clements piece in the April 28 Star-Exponent and felt compelled to write (“The Ross Perot’s of this election”).
One of the individuals he wrote about, Pat Baker, has been a work colleague of my wife and an acquaintance of mine for several years.
James, your description of her as well as all the articles I have read in this newspaper, do not come close to describing her attitudes or outlook on life. Mrs. Baker would make a good Town Council member. This is not about being an election spoiler. It is about bringing the Town Council back to being an institution that listens and acts, not one that pretends to listen and more often than not ignores the voices of its citizens.
Culpeper has seen an amazing amount of change in the last few years without the change being made to laws/ordinances or the way these local laws and ordinances are enforced.
It’s time residents faced that fact and acted.
A vote for Pat Baker would not be wasted. The dedication and civility she has brought to each employment position she has held would be present as she led Culpeper forward.
On Election Day, please vote for Pat Baker for Town Council.

I am a town citizen and have been for several years. I have seen the growth and changes our town has been through. I will cast my vote for Pat Baker tomorrow because she is the voice of change that our town needs. She is a voice for education, and that is one of the issues that I am most concerned about.

Any of the HPC members or former members are not what we need on Town Council.

Another out of county resident telling us how to vote in OUR town council election. Remind us to write letters to the editor when Fauquier and Remington hold elections. Our letters should carry just about as much weight—none.
