An open letter to town residents:
I would like to thank each of you who welcomed me, and my husband, into your home during this campaign period.
It was a pleasure talking with you, and hopefully we were able to share thoughts and ideas about the workings of our town.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my brochure so you would know I am an honest and sincere citizen with the good of the town at heart. I have a deep concern about, and interest in, the problems and issues that are currently facing the leaders of the town. I believe that, through our conversations, you saw that the cry of “one issue candidate” was nothing more than a desperate attempt by those who do not want to lose power to smear my name and reputation.
I feel my responses at the two forums, without aid of insider information, or time to prepare, would prove that I can speak on, and I am dedicated to, resolving these issues.
Thank you also to all who were so willing to allow me to place a sign on your property. I know this isn’t always an easy decision, but having the courage of your conviction speaks volumes.
It was a great honor and pleasure to meet so many of my fellow Culpeperites during the campaign. A sincere thank you for your time and thank you for those who supported me Tuesday.
Pat Baker
Culpeper
Town Council candidate

Yes the voters were not fooled. She still had the same views as HPC’ers because she only publicly broke ties. I wonder how anyone can think they can fool the voters. I wonder how Steve Jenkins feels now that he sits in the corner all by his lonesome self.

Baker, you offered no comment as a candidate when asked by a reporter about your election bid. How curious, when you were willing to talk on the campaign trail. Then you tried to disassociate yourself from HPCers Beckett, Platts and Peppe, yet you joined Steve Jenkins and the other HPCers at the table Pepper’s after you all lost. You can’t have it both ways. You were a one-issue candidate and your assciation with the other HPCers after the election proves your ploy to hold HPC at arm’s lengtth during the campaign was just that—a campaign ploy.
