While at the park recently, my friend walking with me was hit by a boy on a scooter being pulled by a dog.
The child skinned his knee and my friend was shaken. The father of the boy was riding a bike and yelling directions to the dog.
Although the dog was on a leash, there was no one in control of the dog. Is this a safe practice for our park?

Actrually, a friend of mine was jogging around the path and she was assaulted by some animals: the animals who hang-out under the bridge and are never chased away by the CPD.
When school gets out, the animals return to their under-the-bridge cave and I’ve heard horror stories about what goes on under there!
Parents should never allow their teenage girls go to the park to “hang out under the bridge.“

Usph - Have to assume you are intentionally over-stating that viewpoint. Kids should have the freedom to run, play, climb, etc. (no obnoxious behavior, though) in a park like Yowell. There are so few places for children to be children any more.

Looks like the need to get a dog than can take directions better.

According to the writer’s account, her friend was hit by the BOY, not the dog. So, the headline should’ve read, ‘Children need to be controlled while in the park’, in which I would then agree. Children should be on short leashes, and certainly never be on their own. It’s the responsibility of the parents to control their children at all times.

Agree with KTrick. IF you’re going to target critters - how about unlicensed, unfettered felines who poop in play areas, kill birds and rabbits, and in general are free to roam where they please….unsupervised…? Let’s get a grip—we can accommodate each other with some tolerance.

So the father was “yelling” instructions and your friend was still hit by the kid?
Is your friend hearing impaired?
Would this have happened if you and your friend just stepped out of the way and let them pass?
The park is for everyone and we all have different ways to have fun there. I walk my dog there often and rarely see any wild shenanigans.
Live and let live.
