A double standard: Illegals and skaters

Does anyone find it strange that illegals can live in our town, demand everything our tax dollars can afford them, and give back nothing ... without any conditions?

Yet our own children are given a condition: If they can’t wear a bike helmet, then our town (aka your tax dollars) will not be fixing a bike/skateboard ramp at the park for them.

How about this: Give the people who pay taxes and put you people in office what they want. Let the ones who don’t pay taxes use that extra money to help pay for such things as birthing children, health care, medications, road repairs and the new bike/skateboard ramps.

And you wonder why the people want to merge the town and county governments.

To some posters on this site…First i want to thank senseit, makofshrmn, and R.L. for their support.  I realize you were not supporting me, personally, but disagreeing with OPA and sticking up for your principles.  I think this is admirable and I hope you will continue.  There are so many problems in this world right now and there are always a few who, instead of taking the high road and doing the right thing want to belittle others and impose their ideas, on others, regardless of their validity.  The challenges we face right now are paramount to the well being of all of us and rather than feeding the hatred of others and allowing it to dictate ahything in my life, I am withdrawing from this debate.  I am not defeated just think I could put my time to better use than contending with someone whose life is so empty all he can do is stare at a computer screen and Google.
thanks and Good Luck

rogersk 1:25 PM, who but you can know of what you are thinking? You say it is “shameful” to be self-serving?” Are you implying that you are not “self-serving?” You’ve accused me of being “stupid, intemperate,” having a “sense of self importance and superiority”, am “sad,” “quick to judge others and their right to have an opinion, constantly attempt to belittle others for their opinions,” have “self-importance” and then have no self-importance, am “grandiose, delusional, (have) feelings of superiority, wanting all to bow to (my) ideas and opinions, quibble over semantics, have not one original thought,” etc. Do you have anything of importance to say or at best can you only hurl such baseless insults?

Re your reply to R.L. 12:13 pm….Yes, you do!!!!  You do all of the things he mentioned and a lot more besides.  You are an arrogant man who has no regard for others thoughts, opinions, or ideas. I don’t know where you learned your manners or ethics, or lack thereof,or who taught you these things but you, and they, failed miserably. How dare you speak to others in the despicable way that you do!!  who do you think you are!!!!!When senseit called you a hateful old crone, I cringed, but no more.  Now that I see others, than me, on the receiving end of your barbs, I am cringing again.  Mister, I can take care of myself, as you well know, You are inflated and someday someone is going to deflate you and then what will you do?  Just lie in a crumpled heap?  I appreciate the things you’ve said to me because when I get complacent about things going on around me along comes some JERK (yes, I said JERK)who makes me realize that we all have to take care of the business of our country and our families and our lives. I’m not digging my self in a hole and i;m just getting started, so look out!!!!!

A cronie I am not.  Well educated and intelligent I am.  Yes a person can be charged with disorderly conduct for giving someone the finger.  There does not have to be a code on digitus impudicus.  It has and can be done under disorderly conduct.  Can’t you comprehend the law or does it have to be written for you as if you were in kindergarten?  Yes depending on the circumstances of the incident it can happen.  Whether or not a person is convicted is up to a judge or jury.  I have seen many cases.  Some you win and some you lose.  The officer needs probable cause to arrest you.  There needs to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt to convict you.  Each case is different as are all of them.  We can discuss cases and laws all we want with our law schools.  Doesn’t matter, even if it is the best law school in the country.  The final interpretation of the law will rest with the courts, not you and I.  Don’t you know that?  I defend each case to the best of my ability for my clients.  I never make an assumption of the outcome and make no promises to them.  Go stand out on any street corner in public and start giving motorists the finger as they drive by.  I can assure that you will more than likely be arrested because the conduct meets the disorderly conduct code of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  You can try freedom of speech as your defense but don’t count on it.

Opa a bigot?  I’d say only in your dreams.  You are way out of your league rogersk and it must be truly difficult for you to accept it.

From what information I read from U. S. Customs and Immigration it appears that apprehensions and arrests at the border are down due to better enforcement on both the U. S. side and Mexican side of the border.  They still have a long way to go but it’s a start.  There is no proof whether or not 12 million more will come.  No evidence to support either side but it would appear that stepped up efforts at the border are making a difference.  The only problem is that the federal government waited too long.

RL may have been bribed in another country but I’d say you are making an automatic assumption that everyone in that country does such.  I guess that if someone comes to the U. S. for vacation and is approached by crack dealers that all of us here are crack dealers.  Do you comprehend what I am saying rogersk?  Makes perfect sense to anyone that can use their brain.

Maybe you don’t think R.L.‘s bad treatment IN another country is relevant to the discussion but I’m sure he does.  Do you have no regard for others??? EVER???  Obviously not and you pretend to be so pious.  Of course, you will dispute that and probably say you’re not pretending.  I think it might be to everyones’ advantage for you to take a nice, long, vacation and leave your computer at home. (Is it your only ocmpanion?)  I might suggest some vacation destinations that would suit you perfectly. Baghdad, Tehran, Beijing,Mexico City, perhaps?

rogersk 11:29 & 11:48 AM, you claim I am a “bigot” but you say you have “no idea” why. I agree that surely it is not because of my (your words) “superior intelligence and/or honesty.” Yes, I most certainly did comprehend what R.L. said about how badly he was treated in (not “by”) another country, etc. It was very simply put. But what was its significance and/or relevance to anything being discussed?  I always carefully “listen to” and consider whatever is being said by everyone. You are wrong saying that I think “I know it all.” I don’t even know most of it. I agree with you that saying “blowing sunshine” (as R.L. said) is more “kind” than you saying “blowing smoke” and I disagree that it is more “apropos.” If and when you find yourself in a hole Ms. Rogers, intelligence dictates that you stop digging. Stop digging. I think you’ve already made a fool of yourself (but that’s just my opinion.)

YOU’re quibbling over semantics, OPA.  Proves my earlier point.  Not one original thought.

Opa.  How many US Embassies have you ever been in, during your many travels?  I worked in them for years.  The embassy in Manila once gave out 35,000 visa’s to come to the US in one month.  Not one year but one month.  The average there is a whole lot more than you can comprehend.  Why do you think there are lines at every American embassy in the world?  Have you been to San Salvador or to Colombia and seen the thousands of people lined up daily to get visa’s?  How about the one in Mexico city?  I have been to all of them.  You know less than nothing about immigration and that is what ticks me off.  The US gives out more visa’s per year than you can comprehend. Where did you get your facts on 55,000 per year?  Some liberal rag?  The bottom line is still, if you don’t have the correct paperwork, then you are illegal.  As far as labeling you a bigot was harsh on my part.  I will not tell you what I really think you are because there are others that read this.  Go out and really see the world and live in these “wonderful places with the wonderful people”  And I don’t mean a tourist trap, Cancun, Acapulco, etc.  I am talking a real place like Mexico City where the cops are so corrupt, you cant get help or you have to fear they will rob you. Even better how about Bogota, where you have to have shotgun guards with you most of the time, especially if you are an American.  How many do you see here like that?  How about Manila where they have armed guards at the 7/11 or at your hotel?  You know nothing accept what you believe and that is sad but at least you in a country that allows you to disagree.  You need to get your head out see what it’s all about.  Come talk to me then.  Until you do that, you continue to have nice day and believe in your own naive little world.  I just want to ask one question?  Does it echo up there?

RL 6:59 AM, dictionaries not I define “bigot.” I disagree that I am in any way a “bigot.” Nor do I ever “jump on” anyone who says “anything” about illegal immigration and tell them they are “bad” people. Perhaps you might try to cite a few examples? I never “attack” anyone who responsibly disagrees with me about what you call the “immigration problem.” Could you explain just what you perceive that “problem” to be?  And I have never accused anyone of being a “racist, bigot or intolerant” simply because they disagree with me about immigration.  Again, try to cite even one example. I do “get it” but think that you do not evidenced by your statement “If they want to come here legally, then do it.”  Our current immigration laws do not permit them to “do it” legally. I say that is a problem. No embassy anywhere has “citizenship lotteries” for the USA. Annually, merely 55,000 “green cards” are issued through our immigration lottery program; far too few to even rise recipients to the level of appearing on a radar screen. So, we now have 12 million illegal aliens here (218+ years worth at 55,000 per year), including 7.5 million (136+ years worth at 55,000 per year) in our workforce. Isn’t it time to get some comprehensive reform and workable laws in place?  I think so. You too have a nice day and do try to THINK.
