Are you trying to get your records together to figure your income tax for 2007-

Are you trying to work your way through a 40-some page booklet in order to file a two- or three page tax return-
Are you thinking about the upper income people that hire experts to find loopholes to minimize their taxes-

Then, remember the the corporations have high-paid lobbyists in Washinton, D. C., to lean on the legislators to add special provisions that benefit a corporation or sector of industry that has nothing to do with the important legislation that it is attached to-

Oh, and what about all those people who don't even file a tax return-

It is not just the illegal immigrants that get paid under the table, but a significant number of citizens as well!

So what are we going to do about it-

Are we going to just accept the status quo and say, "Well it's not fair but it has always been this way-"

Well, it has not always been this way and it doesn't have to stay this way in the future. We have an alternative. It's called  the "Fair Tax Act." It's House Bill 25 and Senate Bill 1025.

You may think the Fair Tax Act will never be passed into law, that we will never repeal the Income Tax Code (which runs thousands of pages, by the way.)

A grassroots movement by the citizens of this country can change the minds of our representatives in Washington.

Before you say that this type of movement will never work, how about the repeal of Prohibition- And did anyone think back then that women in this country would ever get the vote- Those actions were both accomplished by the will of the American people.

Republican candidates during a debate prior to the primaries were asked how they stood on the Fair Tax Act and they all sidestepped the question. Perhaps they didn't want to make any of their big business contributors nervous. The only one who had the courage to say where he stood on the issue was Gov. Mike Huchabee.

If you want to find out more about the Fair Tax Act go to fairtax.org. There you will find out how we can simplify our taxing system and make the system fair for all Americans.
