Voters in the Eldorado district will cast their ballots at a new polling location this November, the Voter Registration Office announced this week.
According to county Voting Registrar Michele White, complaints about visibility, parking and lighting prompted the office initiate the process of relocating the New Salem Baptist Church polling place on Sperryville Pike to the Salem Volunteer Fire Department. The fire department, which is located at 13428 Scotts Mill Road, is about a mile away from the former location.
“The Electoral Board felt strongly about making the move before the presidential election and did everything in their power to keep the ball rolling to have the move completed before November.” said White. She said the process of selecting a new polling place involved the Board of Supervisors, the Department of Justice and the State Board of Elections.
White said all voters in the district who are affected by the change will receive a new voter card in the mail this week.
