Maintenance workers were swamped with the task of cleaning up a flooded bathroom at Eastern View High School Wednesday, the first day of school.
Debris left over from the nearly two-year construction project at the county’s second high school is the culprit, according to school officials. The backup occurred in a bathroom on the first floor.
Eastern View Principal Roger Mello confirmed that it was due to a clogged line.
“The line was unclogged and the restroom was washed down and is back to normal,” he said.
Paul Howard, Culpeper County director of environmental services, said the backup was not on the county’s end.
The town supplies the water while the county is responsible for operating the water and sewer system for the high school.
Howard said school maintenance crews snaked the line Wednesday to clear the waste.

Are you kidding? This is the stuff small towns are made of. I’m glad to see it reported. It means we’re not yet Northern Virginia after all.

Slow news day? Come on, do we really need this story? Where is the story about a light bulb burned out in the county library or a broken elevator at the courthouse?
