A Culpeper man was airlifted to a nearby hospital Saturday night while the local man who allegedly shot him ended up needing medical assistance, too.
The 45-year-old victim remains in the intensive care unit after being shot around 9:15 p.m., according to Sgt. Jim Fox of the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office.
Fox is uncertain how severe the victim’s injuries are and whether he was flown to the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville or Inova Fairfax.
The reported 56-year-old offender Charlie H. Pistole — who has yet to be served with the warrants — is also in the hospital for an “unknown health condition.”
Fox said he’s not sure how Pistole obtained his injuries, but “it probably happened during the argument.”
Deputies responded to the 10600 block of Jones Lane, off Eggbornsville Road, after a shooting call. When they arrived, they learned about a fight that led to the incident.
Fox said deputies will issue two warrants to Pistole within the next few days.
He faces two felony charges: malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
